T-Square Design Associates

計画地は山を切り開いて開発された古い住宅街の端にあり、隣地となる公園にひっそりと寄り添うようにある。ひっそりという印象を与えるのは、恐らく計画地が旗竿地で奥まっているということもあるだろう。そこで、公園に寄り添うような建築を作れないかと考えた。しかし、その寄り添い方は様々である。公園に対して開くのか閉じるのか。公園との向き合い方として何が正解なのか？果たして多くの実例で見るように公園に対して「開く」ことだけが正しいのか？住まい手は独身の女性であり、また、ここは別荘ではなく、日常の住まいだ。施主との対話から、自然とある程度の距離感を保った生活、つまり自然と一体化した室内空間を目指すのではなく、様々な安心感（虫や他人等から守られた状態）が確保された状態で自然を享受したいということだった。その結果、制作建具に頼った大開口は諦め、アルミサッシを主体とした開口部によって、景色を切り取ることにした。それは同時に人工（室内空間）と自然（外部空間）の間に見えない線引きをすることでもある。そして建物は、くの字に曲げて公園に寄り添うように建たせているが、その開口部や仕上げ素材は公園と対比させることで、公園との関わり方に対する一つの答えを導き出そうとした。それは、この住宅が公園と共存か対峙ではなく、その中間的位置に曖昧に存在させることが出来ないかと考えたからである。

The site is located adjacent to a park that used to be a castle site over 200 years ago. With a situation like this, it is quite likely that the plan opens out towards the park (green) with wide openings using ordered steel or wood windows. On the other hand, there is always a mosquito problem. So, after a conversation with a client, the openings were made closed using readymade aluminum windows. So the main task for the architect was to design a house with wide windows (a combination of readymade aluminum windows) that nestles to the park. Considering about the opening was very important when the architect focused on the relationship between the house and the park. This relationship between the house and the surrounding is something the architect thinks most important, when architecture is designed. It is all about closing or opening the architecture to the surroundings. And here, it is whether to coexist or confront with the nature next to the house.
