RENOVATION Evo

This is a renovation of a 2-story wooden house built about 30 years ago in the downtown area of Osaka City. The interior and exterior have been completely changed, so the original form is almost unnoticeable. The client placed the utmost importance on usability and comfort, such as the flow of daily life, so the renovation was done in accordance with their wishes. However, there were many aspects that could be controlled, such as how to bring in light and the relationship between light and the finishing materials and plan. On the other hand, the original house was in a very bad state, and we had a lot of trouble on site. There was a lot of structural distortion, part of the foundation was missing, and the cross-sectional defects of the pillars and beams were significant, so it was a wonder that it had not collapsed until then. We were able to give a new life to the building by correcting the distortion as much as possible, creating a foundation, replacing structural materials with cross-sectional defects, and adding various reinforcements.
