RESIDENCE natural canvas

This house is located in Kurakuen, a popular high-end residential area in the Hanshin area. The site where this project is being planned is the furthest of several housing lots that were divided on land where a large mansion once stood. Behind the site is a vast forest with a variety of tree species growing thickly. When I first visited the planned site, it looked like a natural canvas. The owner seemed to like that, so we decided to proceed with the plan while incorporating as much of that natural canvas into the interior as possible. The building is shaped so that the nature behind the building cannot be seen from the outside, and instead a new natural wall is created with wooden boards all over to welcome visitors, but once inside, the space is designed so that you can feel the nature behind as much as possible no matter where you are inside the room. This is a house whose main challenge is to make the most of the unique site conditions of Kurakuen.
